Apple iPhone X price in India at Rs89,000, iPhone 8 sale starts 29 Sep

The Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will launch in India on 29 September—a week after they go on sale in the US—while the top-end iPhone X will debut on 3 November. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available for Rs64,000 onwards whereas the iPhone X starts at Rs89,000. Consumers have more reason to cheer as Apple Inc. has also slashed prices of previous generation handsets—iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus—by as much as Rs8,300.

 Airtel, SK Telecom tie up to work on 5G, improve network experience

Bharti Airtel Ltd on Wednesday said it has formed a strategic partnership with SK Telecom to leverage the South Korean telecom operator’s expertise in improving network experience, machine learning, big data and to provide a better experience to customers. The capacity to identify, monitor and deliver improvements to the network experience on an individual device basis will be a first in India, helped by SK Telecom’s global leadership in this area, Airtel said in a statement on Wednesday.

Railways permits m-Aadhaar as ID proof for travellers

The Ministry of Railways on Wednesday said it has decided to allow m-Aadhaar, a digital version of the Aadhaar card, as proof of identity for travellers in any reserved class. The m-Aadhaar is a mobile app launched by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on which a person can download his/her Aadhaar card. It can, however, be downloaded only on the mobile number to which Aadhaar has been linked.

RCom to challenge Ericsson’s insolvency petition

Reliance Communications today said it will challenge equipment maker Ericsson’s petition against it under the insolvency and bankruptcy code for recovery of about Rs 1,155 crore. “We wish to inform you that Ericsson India Private Limited (Ericsson), an unsecured operational creditor, has filed petition under IBC provisions against the company in… National Company Law Tribunal, Mumbai Bench (NCLT)… For recovery of an amount of Rs 491.41 crore,” RCom said in a BSE filing.

SC tells Jaypee to pay 10 homebuyers Rs 5 lakh each over project delay in Noida

The Supreme Court asked Jaypee Associates on Wednesday to pay Rs 5 lakh each to 10 homebuyers who did not get their flats on time, expressing concern “about the tears of the homebuyers who cannot be taken for a ride by builders”. The ruling adds to the woes of the real estate developer which is in the middle of insolvency proceedings. Jaypee is one of several prominent builders that have delayed the delivery of flats in the National Capital Region, locking lakhs of money paid by mostly middle-class homebuyers.
