CDSL IPO subscribed two times on Day 1 of issue
The initial public offering (IPO) of Central Depository Services (India) Ltd (CDSL) was subscribed two times on Monday, the first day of the offering, according to data from stock exchanges. As of 5pm, the portion of shares reserved for institutional investors was subscribed 97%, while the portions reserved for high net-worth individuals and retail investors were subscribed 61% and 3.48 times, respectively. CDSL shares have been priced in a band of Rs145-149 per share.
I-T Dept orders taking away of $104 mn dividend due to Cairn Energy
Cairn Energy Plc said on Monday the Indian income tax (I-T) department had issued an order to Vedanta Ltd, directing it to pay the government any sums that were due to the Edinburgh-based company. Cairn said Vedanta owed it $104 million, including historical dividends of $53 million and a further dividend of $51 million after the merger of Cairn India and Vedanta.

SpiceJet places order for 20 Boeing 737 MAX 10 planes
SpiceJet will buy 20 Boeing 737 MAX 10 while converting 20 of their existing 737 MAX 8 order to 10, as it looks to carry more passengers between Indian metros where airports remain congested. Boeing has launched the 737 MAX 10 as a bigger version of the 737 MAX 9 with increased seating of 230 in a single class configuration. The airline currently operates 35 Boeing 737-800 and 737-900 Next generation planes which have a seating capacity of 212 and 189, respectively. If the order is finalised, SpiceJet will also become the launch customer for the newest version of aircraft.
Pune raises Rs 200 cr in first municipal bond issue in 14 yrs
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) today raised Rs 200 crore by selling 10-year bonds, becoming the first civic body to tap money from this route in 14 years. Proceeds from the issue, raised at a coupon of 7.59 per cent and oversubscribed six times, will be used for a Rs 2,300-crore water project. “We will be raising money in a staggered way over the next five years as per the payment schedule for the project,” Kunal Kumar, the civic commissioner, told reporters here.
Punjab To Amend Excise Act To Let Hotels, Clubs Serve Liquor Near Highways
The Punjab cabinet on Monday gave its nod to a proposal to amend the excise act which will enable hotels, restaurants and clubs to serve alcohol within 500 meters of highways. By amending Section 26-A of Punjab Excise Act, 1914, all ambiguities for serving of liquor at hotels, restaurants and clubs would be removed by adding provisions in which it is cleared that no retail vend would be opened within 500 meter of the national and state highways.
Delhi on alert after intelligence warning of terror attack
The Delhi Police has been placed on high alert, and has asked its counterparts across India to tighten security after receiving an intelligence tip-off warning of a terror attack on crowded public spaces, a senior police officer said on Monday. “The Delhi Police Special cell has issued an advisory to all security agencies across the country to beef up the security measures at interstate bus terminals, railway stations, five star hotels, malls and markets, religious places, embassies of western countries, metro stations, airports, stadiums, and tourist places or other sites visited by foreign nationals,” the officer told IANS.
Students stuck, food supply low at Darjeeling schools
Sixteen-year-old Devang Rai is from Kathmandu, Nepal. A student of Class 11 at St Joseph’s School, North Point, one of the premier boarding schools in Darjeeling, Devang was looking forward to his vacation that was to start on June 23. “I’m not sure if I can go now. We are safe for now, but trapped,” he said, sitting in the courtyard of the 127-year-old school. With Darjeeling erupting and the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) calling for an indefinite bandh on June 15, thousands of students who study in residential schools of Darjeeling, Kurseong and Kalimpong — many of them from Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, Hong Kong and Bhutan, besides other parts of India – have been stranded. These schools are also worried about food stocks running out.
Punjab 3rd state to waive farm loans, to take Rs 24,000 crore hit
The farm loan waiver fever is spreading across the country, threatening to place a huge additional burden on the already creaking finances of state governments.
On Monday, Punjab became the third state this year — after UP and Maharashtra — to announce a total waiver of all crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh for small and marginal farmers (up to 5 acres) and a flat Rs 2 lakh relief for all other marginal farmers, irrespective of their loan amount.
Aggrieved students demand extension of window to verify CBSE marks
A TOI report on Sunday, pointing out differences of up to 400% inoriginal and corrected totals in CBSE Class XII exam, has triggered an outcry among parents and students. They not only want the window for verification of marks extended, but are also demanding that CBSE should reopen the re-evaluation process and make available photocopies of the evaluated answer scripts without any rider.
